• Details:  Strikingly beautiful porcelain decorative plate made by the Franklin Mint for the National Wildlife Federation.  The plate is based on the Majestic Cats Collection by Michael Matherly.  This one is called "Cheetah and Cubs" and has a regal mother Cheetah sitting by her two, very cute, cubs.  The background showcases the unusual Baobab trees from South Africa.   All the colors are soft and muted for a really beautiful, calming affect.  The plate is rimmed in gold, signed by the artist on the bottom left side.  The back is stamped with all the information on this collection, in part it reads: "Limited edition, Plate No F7160, Fine Porcelain. Michael Ross Matherly is an American artist, one-quarter Cherokee/Shawnee Indian and very in tune with the environment.  He started painting at a young age and has continued that love and dedication to his art throughout his life.  His studio is in Cambridge City, Indiana.  Michael has done commissioned work for the National Wildlife Federation in Washington D.C.  His work has been published on covers and inside several national and state magazines.  He has designed several postage stamps for the United States Postal Service in Washington D.C. This commissioned series of twelve collector plates for the Franklin Mint, titled "The Majestic Cats Collection", were sold around the world and his series is the most successful in the history of the Franklin Mint.  His artwork is licensed and is also used on products sold around the world, like:  prints, greeting cards, mugs, coasters, trivets, T-shirts, afghan throws, calendars, cross stitch, tote bags, wall murals, t-shirts, magnets, and so much more.
